Each member takes part in two committees; much of the work of CSSP is done by its ad hoc time-limited committees and its standing task forces: - Nano Technology
- Scholarly Communication
- Government and Public Affairs
- Ethics in Science
- Mathematics and Science Education
- Environment & Energy
- Public Understanding of Science
- International Science
- Careers & Diversity
These committees offer CSSP members an opportunity to gain broad support for positions on science and education issues relating to the concerns of their respective societies and unique opportunities to build networks among leaders of most major scientific societies. Policy statements, resolutions, and suggestions for programs are debated and recommended by these committees, which normally meet online, and at the beginning of each semiannual meeting of the Council. CSSP updates its members on national policy and on emerging issues throughout the year.
